January 2012:

The holidays are over and the year-end stuff for taxes is almost finished! I wish you all much success in the upcoming year!   We'll be back on the road at the beginning of February.

My first stop this year is a wonderful knitting retreat that I have gone to over the past five years. It is sponsored by the South Carolina Knitting Guild and is a real blast. I will be teaching two classes: 1) Kumihimo Basics and 2) Drop Spindling My Way, It's Easier Than You Think!. I will also be vending on Saturday at the Knit Inn.

As soon as possible, I will be loading all of those beautiful drop spindles that come in gemstone, polymer clay, exotic woods, and hardwood. I  have started a New Products section on the "Our Thangz" page so that you can see what I have recently added to the website!  As soon as possible, I will be loading all of those beautiful drop spindles that come in gemstone, polymer clay, exotic woods, and hardwood. Check back often!

The Yarn Caddy holds your yarn on the shaft while you are knitting; as such, the yarn won't roll all over the place. It's great for stranded knitting or use with a center-pull yarn ball.  If you are familiar with a center-pull yarn ball, it always collapses inward. The yarn caddy works from the outside end of your yarn .  This prevents the center from collapsing when the ball is almost finished. As a real plus, if you knit from the outside of the ball, the yarn won't twist!  It comes with its own project bag and is completely collapsible for packing in a suitcase.  The yarn caddy is made of red oak hardwood stained in one of four attractive finishes. The ornament at the top pulls off to slide the new yarn ball on the shaft which is 8" high. To prevent it from sliding on a table, there are rubber feet on the bottom!  Besides being very attractive, it's a great new way to house yarn other than plastic sphere or a yarn bowl to prevent the yarn ball from rolling around.
  • The yarn caddy can also by used with your roving. Pre-draft your roving and wind it around the shaft of the caddy and spin from the caddy.  A Modern Distaff
  • The yarn caddy is also useful with certain yarn cones for lace knitting as the diameter of the shaft is 3/4". Lace Knitting
  • The yarn caddy can be used with commercially produced yarn, simply remove the ball band and insert on the shaft.  Commercial Yarn Balls
  • You can order extra tubes and switch out your projects to suit your knitting, crocheting or spinning projects. Multiple Projects.
